The Battlefords News-Optimist has an immediate opening for a full-time news editor.
The successful candidate will be responsible overseeing production of a twice-weekly newspaper and website maintenance. The successful candidate will have:
• A solid background in journalistic principles;
• Solid understanding of the role of community newspapers;
• Superior command of the English language, including punctuation and CP Style.
The editor is responsible for the management of a three-person news team; two general reporters and one sports reporter. The editor is also heavily involved in production of the print editions. Knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop would be assets.

The Battlefords is an active, vibrant community encompassing the city of North Battleford and the town of Battleford. Rental accommodation rates are considered affordable.
